Unit 6 music video   

Wednesday 2pm-3pm

Week 1: We met with the dancers to discuss the idea's for the music video. My group came up with the idea of there being a party and it shows all the relationships.

 

Week 2: We went to the dance studio and watch the dancers do the chorus of the song while we took practice shots to see what would work well.

 

Week 3: We went to the dance studio to discuss roles in the production and costume design.

 

Week 4: We went to the dance studio and listened to the full length of the song as well as watch the dancers rehearse the trio and quartet dances.

 

 Recording week

Day 1: We went to the T.v studio to record the chorus and the couples dance.

 

Day 2: We went to king Georges park and began recording the chorus and group dances. Later we went to the car park and recorded the chorus and guitar solo. We later went to the blue wall to record a couples dance, we later went back to the tv studio to re-record the chorus.

 

Day 3: We went to the theater and we recorded the chorus, couples dance and then took some shots of the couples on a bench.

  • interesting group choreography 

  • use of props

  • keeping it with in the school location

  • instead of switching sets following the characters along a set path though a location 

since were working with a large performing arts class the use off complex group choreography 

  • the up beat tune of the song followed with darker lyrics yet the band stays up beat

  • over the top wardrobe 

since the songs a generic love song the music video will need to be eye catching and over the top wardrobe would help with that

  • the lighting and neon lights looked fun

  • the side story though out the video was interesting

light up the night's music video follows a story line that fits in with song and with the lyrics with demon dogs it fairly easy to set up something like a photo time line on a wall

The target demographic was 13-15 year old girls I would say the that the song and music video achieves that but just barely. the over all planing of the music video was very difficult a lot of people fighting for a spotlight and not enough music video to go around, the original ideas of creating some sort of story with one lead singing would have worked out best. But for the performing arts class that was not an option this lead to what we have here witch is basically people  dancing in different places in different clothing. That is very difficult to edit into anything interesting but I believe my attempt worked out alright putting a red filter over the video seemed to add an extra layer of emotion to the video. Red being the color of passion love anger etc helps to link the  video to the to the song witch is about falling in love and braking up.

their will most likely be more situation like this in the future and to tackle them I will need to learn to adapt with a continuously changing idea and use my creativity to fix any problems in post. I would also say being more vocal in the early meetings about the problems arising and me ideas would hopefully help me aviod those situation in the future
