hello im connar martin this is my blog

during my fist week into college i'v refamiliarize myslef with multiple applications and techniques of the media industry.

This involed interacting with addobe photo shop to create a mood bored on are thoughts of the media, use industry standard cameras to recrate camera techniques commonly use in film and tv and now im writeing this blog to familiarize myself with basic web design.

during my second day my group and I used industry standard cameras to recrate camera techniques commonly use in film and tv

Shot types

This video shows the different shot types commonly used in film.

The task was to shoot one person from my group at different angels, distances and perspectives.

The task has helped me get familiar with the shot types and the camera will be using for most of the course it has also shown me  some of the difficulty's that come with filming witch need to be constantly check for such as over exposure witch can cause the sky to go completely white and cut off part of the skyline in the background, the focus that need to be rest and check with every new shot, and white balance needs o be check at the start of filming to to make sure the shots stay there natural colour.

foley sound

the Foley sound short helped me gain a better understanding of how to use sound equipment and gives me ore options for the  future on how to record sound.

lighting and green screen

these two shorts were basic lighting and editing

the basic editing was working with a green screen in the back ground and creating moving moving bubbles of text using key framing. this helped give me a better understanding of work to be done during the post-production phase of film making.

the lighting short gave me a better understanding of how light can be used to completely change the mood and feel of any scene and shows the importance to get it right to give really give anything you make the right impact.

primary research

This is the survey we used to gain a reference of what to focus are film on

and gain a better understanding of the demographic we would be making the film for.

We found that would be working with 16-18 year old's witch enjoy an array of different film genres who all enjoy london and are mostly female

  secondary research

For my secondary research I used website call timeout.

This gives you a large selection of thing to do within London and has give my group a lot of inspiration for what to use in are film

Hyde park have big why open spots easy to set up for filming along with the massive size of the park will give us a chance to get a large variety of the shots we need

the victoria albert museum would be a great spot for filming due to its beautiful art works, spacious halls, and multiple level looking up and down on each other.

London promo film

This is a short promo video of London we shot for are unit 2 the end result of the film is much better then expected due to the complication that came up with. the complication we came across:

There was little room to set up a tripod with the amount of people in these tourist arenas we had to shoot shots by hand and even then had multiply people walk across making it take a lot longer to get the shots needed.

Time and travel  we aimed way to big for this short and and time constraints with long travel time from shooting location we had to re-plan the film on the fly to get something we can turn into a promo.

But over all the short was saved with heavy amount of editing the use of warp stabilisers and the on screen text were mainly used to pull shots together and turn it into a working promo.

In the future will use more simple but effective ideas to not over work are selves, use are time better, and plan for obstacles that could slow or halt production.
