Unit 3
Stop motion analysis
For unit 3 I need to analyze two stop motion animations plan my won animation and create a shot 15-30 second stop motion animation.
The mc Donald's ad is interesting because it has two different audiences due too the animation and the language use though out the add.
Lets start at the animation and music with bright fun colors, a quire whistling in the back ground and little stop motion toys coming to life to build a happy meal, the animation its self is clearly aimed toward children under 10 to want happy a meal.

Starting with the analysis of other stop motion animation ill be analyzing a mc Donald happy meal ad and a short film called roommate wanted dead or alive.
Roommate Wanted is short about a medical student short on money. In order to pay the bills he gets an unexpected zombie roommate, and now needs learn to get along with someone so different.
I would say the audience for this short is 18-24 year olds those at an age where their going to uni have less time to work and are in need of roommate to split the rent this audience can relate most to the idea of shearing a living space with those very different from them.

The language on the other hand is directed at
parents informing them that the new happy meal is healthier. with less salt and fat, new drink options of milk and water and fruit and veg to replace chips. This information would send the under 10 audience to sleep, and kids usually dislike the healthy option. But for a parent wanting their children to be healthy sets a convincing argument for them to stop a mc Donald's next time there out and kids are hungry.

Story board

Synopsis
I plan to make a stop motion short on an average game on chess but give the chess pieces a bit of life and personality with a with sounds effects and music sounding to give off a bizarre yet funny atmosphere.
Music & sound
Ill be looking for music that sounds bizarre yet entertaining and fitting for whats going on on screen.
Sound effect ill use will most likely be sounds of horse hoofs and naying sword clashing noises and sounds showing the pieces interactions with each other.
Target audience
the target audience will be 12-16 year olds those how would find a low quality comedic stop motion animation entertaining.
Sets
The sets aren't important for this for this short all I need is clean pieces board white wall and clear table.
Stop motion shot
Stop motion shot
Move your feet
This is the short I made for the stop motion part of unit 3.The movie uses a connect 4 set to create moving patterns in sync with the song move your feet by Junior Senior.
The original idea was to have chess pieces interaction with each other in a sort of comedic battle but i was unable to find an old chess set or get my hands on one in time. This lead me to change a large amount of what I was doing. I replaced chess with connect 4 change it from an comedic battle to more of a stylized music video.
The video itself holds multiple flaws.
The patterns of the connect 4 disks aren't as smooth as i wanted them to be,
the patterns also don't flow into each other well making the end result look like a light a switch being repeatably flip a brake neck speeds,
the frame rate rarely hits 20 this partly because I needed less frames for the short to sync with the music and also due to the animation speeding up to a point where there are only red and yellow flash on the screen for 30 seconds.
The key issue in all of this was the lack of planing and preparation leading me to heavily improvise the majority of the work.
With correct planing I would of had a better idea of the patterns id be using and cleaver way to have them flow around the screen smoothly.
The short would have met the 20 frames a second minimum.
And if i had prepared early i wouldn't of been stuck with connect 4 in the first place.
Unit 4

Typical narratives: Usually based on exploration like the star trek movies or a dystopian future involving a comfy high society with a massively suffering under class
Typical iconography: There is commonly neon everywhere, vehicle with flight, lazers robots, cyborgs these thing can be found in i robot, ghost in a shell, star trek, star wars .ect.
Typical characters: the sarcastic rogue like Hun Solo, Peter Quill/Star Lord,James T. Kirk/ Captin Kirk.
Typical settings: Space and new world exploration these are the most common Si-fi film settings Guardians of the galaxy is a good example with only the 10minutes of the film being on earth and the rest on 3 separate planets, space and a space station prison

preproduction film analysis
Ghost in the Shell
Genre: si-fi, mysterie, thriller, and psychological
UPS: Scarlett Johansson and the movie os a live action adaptation of a popular japan animated movie
music and sound: the first 13 seconds of the trailer opens with and with the sound of a piano repeatedly playing one note creating an eerie tension right from the start from there loud drumbeats and the inception horn play as the scene turns violent and the action begins.
Shortly after the music stop and the scene changes, the characters begin to talk.
This adds realism to the scene witch makes the viewer focused more on whats being said hinting that this is interesting and important information for the view to know.
The piano continues as the the main character monologs in the back ground hiding the building tension until the lyrics start showing interesting shots till the cliff hanger at the end.
Dialogue:the short dialogue sections in the trailer gives the audience feel for what the movies about and abetter understanding of the genre the movie is.

Visuals: it shows a dark neo Tokyo in a dystopian cybernetic future.A dark gloomy world lit up with neon add and holographic images really showing the contrast of living between the rich a poor in society.
edit: the opening shots has multiple cuts perfectly layered with the music the single piano notes plays as it cuts to the main character and the location while building tension leading to drum beats and the inception horn as the action takes place this is the first 30 seconds of the trailer the cuts layered with music work well to really pull a viewer in to what it is.
use: I decide to use ghost in the shell for my trailer analysis because of the use of editing and CGI in it. This relates well with my own ideas of trailer ill be using effects to add the game world elements to the parkour video to create an augmented reality feel.
scott pilgrim vs the world
Genre: si-fi, romance, comedy, game, action
UPS: an adaptation of a popular comic
music and sound: the music starts out as a sort of cliche romcom theme to delude the audience in to thinking it just another bad romcom this leads to a surprise when they intrudes the evil ex's and the music changes to fit that.

Dialogue:the short dialogue sections in the trailer gives the audience feel for what the movies about and abetter understanding of the genre the movie is. it also introduces the main cast and gives you a look in to there personalities though there short interaction with each other.
visuals: the visuals used show the world as everyday as are's. Whats different is the effects, there used almost as if they've been pulled straight from a comic book or game. the movie was made this way to keep the feel of the comics alive even when adapted to film
edit: the editing is quick with short shots highlighting Scott and Romona at the start and building tension as the evil ex's pop up this is to give the audience the final piece of information they need to know what they'll be getting in to if they decide to watch the film
use: I decide to use Scott pilgrim vs the world for my trailer analysis because of the use of the style and effects in it. This relates perfectly with my own ideas of trailer where I planed to use effects similar to a game style
Genre: family, animation, comedy, adventure
music and sound: chiper music and sound effects through out the trailer crate an atmosphere of adventure
Dialogue:the short dialogue sections in the trailer gives the audience feel for what the movies about and abetter understanding of the genre the movie is. it also introduces the main cast and gives you a look in to there personalities though there short interaction with each other.

visuals: the visuals of the trailer are bright and full color really breathing life into the film creating fun feeling for family audiences
edit: the editing is quick with short shots highlighting ralph's situation and feelings at the start and building excitement as ralph begins his journey other than that the trailer edit doesn't reveal much of the story leaving the audience wanting more.
use: I decided to use Wreck-it Ralph for my trailer analysis because of the use of intertextual game references and since my trailer is a sort of augmented reality game this help to give me a better understanding of intertextual reference and how to smartly place them in my trailer.

movie trailer game master
the is the trailer for I mead for unit 4. The idea of the trailer and film is a boy gets trapped in a video game and need to find a way out.
Overall it doesn't hit the mark, for any one watching the trailer without already knowing the plot would find it difficult to understand whats going on. This could be fixed with better pre planing of the shots and scenes need to make the trailer/film easier to understand.
Iv also added more complex after effects and gained a better understanding of how adobe after effects works and will take more opportunities to use it in the future such as using an animated creature in the last scene instead of a still image.
Logo and analysis
With the next part of unit 4 I need to create logo that shows the sort of place i want to work in the future.
Before that I need to analyze we logo related with the type of industry I want to work in after my education.
marvel logo:

marvels logos made to stand out from the crowd in an aggressive way it is quite literally made to be marveled at the red back ground show a lot of power and force behind the brand while the white is used to show the purity of the brand and how dedicated they are to stain or tarnish it this is probably the most iconic logo of the comic book industry because of this design
microsoft logo:
Microsofts most iconic logo is the windows logo.it uses 4 different colored squares making up a big square. This use of color is rarely used in logo design due the level of fine detail needed to have the colors compliment each other instead of conflict.
Yet Microsoft pull it off nicely using bight light colors all opposite on the spectrum to each other to create a friendly inviting warm trust worth feel for the company and logo.
The reason behind these colors is that the company Microsoft has become a multi purpose business dealing in a wide range of quality software, hardware, gaming, products and media applications. The logos color and shape symbolize the different parts of Microsoft coming together to make a stronger more reliable whole.

At Microsoft, our mission is to enable people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential. We consider our mission statement a commitment to our customers.

disney logo:

disney logo is the most notable logo there is no one that doesn't recognize it because their company is very old and is in every every media format with the calming blue and clear white it gives the feel the brand is almost as old as time tranquil and hopeful they will always be there.

psygo I chose the name psygo for my brand as its use friendly playful letters with an enjoyable font that always catches the eye.
i decided to use three colors yellow, orange and blue the yellow shows the warmth of are company and compliments the orange.
the orange blend with the while give its own personality showing creativity and innovation.
while the blue show tranquility though all of are ideas and friendly attitude the brand still keep a clear head and doesn't lose focus
